Townsend Networks buys and sells new-excess, used, and refurbished enterprise networking hardware: Juniper, Arista, Brocade and Cisco switches, routers, firewalls, modules, and optics. We have been doing exactly this, from the same corner of the Bay Area, for 25 years.
The reason the business exists has not moved either: help companies save real money on hardware by offering gear that has actually been tested, and give the equipment they retire a second production life instead of a landfill. The secondary market is full of gray-market brokers who drop-ship untested equipment with a thirty-day prayer attached. We are the alternative, and everything below is what that costs us to say.

The model
We buy, sell and trade hardware
We buy and sell tested Juniper, Arista, Brocade, and Cisco hardware. The same bench that grades equipment for our buyers evaluates the equipment we buy from our sellers, so every grade has to stand up on both sides of the transaction.
The bench
We don't take a supplier's word for it. We test it ourselves.
Every unit goes to our own certified technicians before it reaches the shelf: powered up, ports exercised, PSUs, fans and thermals checked, then verified again before it ships. Not a drop-ship, not a photograph of someone else's stock.

Our warranty, not a pass-through
The guarantee behind a Townsend unit is written by Townsend and honored by Townsend: a 3-year warranty in a market where a 30-day broker guarantee is the norm. If a unit fails, you are dealing with the company that tested it, not with whoever it came from.
