The Arista 7280R family does not share one end-of-life date. It spans three generations of the same chassis idea, and Arista retires each model on its own notice. The first 7280SE models are already past end of life. The 7280CR-48 reaches end of life on November 22, 2026. Six other 7280R and 7280R2 models stop receiving software bug fixes on December 20, 2026, while their hardware support runs on into 2027 and 2028.
Two of those dates land in the next eight weeks, which is why this page puts every one of them in one place, taken from Arista's own end-of-sale notices.

Sources, all on arista.com: 7280SE-68 and 7280SE-72 notice, 7280SE-64 notice, 7280CR-48 notice, 7280SR-48C6 and 7280TR-48C6 notice, 7280SR2K-48C6-M notice, 7280SR2A-48YC6 notice and 7280CR2K-60 and 7280CR2A-60 notice.
Each notice covers the airflow and power versions of its model: the -F (front-to-rear) and -R (rear-to-front) versions, the # build with configurable fans and power supplies, and the -M versions where the notice names them. The DCS-7280SR-48C6 notice, for example, lists its sub SKUs as -F, -R, # and -M#, so the DCS-7280SR-48C6-M-R carries the same dates as the base model.
What each milestone means
Arista uses the same nine milestones on every end-of-sale notice:
- End-of-sale announcement: the day the notice is published.
- Last day to order: the end of sale. After it, Arista no longer takes orders for the model. Arista marks the date subject to availability.
- Last day to add new service contracts: a unit not already under an Arista contract cannot be brought under one after this date.
- Last day to request hardware failure analysis: Arista stops investigating why a returned unit failed.
- Last day to receive software bug fixes and support: the last day Arista fixes bugs in EOS, its switch operating system, for that model.
- Last day to renew existing service contracts: a contract already in place can be renewed up to this date.
- Last day to receive 24x7 TAC support and last day for hardware RMA requests: the end of Arista's technical support and replacement parts under contract.
- End of life of product: the end of every Arista commitment for the model.
Why December 20, 2026 matters
On April 1, 2025 Arista revised the notices for the 7280CR-48, the 7280SR2K-48C6-M, the 7280SR2A-48YC6 and the 7280CR2K-60 and 7280CR2A-60. Each revision is labelled a software milestone update, and each moved the software date, with a footnote that reads "Date updated to reflect extended software lifecycle." For the R2 models the new date is December 20, 2026, the same day the 7280SR-48C6 notice gives for its own software support.
So on one day this December, six separate 7280R and 7280R2 models reach the end of EOS bug fixes together. The hardware milestones do not move with it: TAC support and RMA requests for those models continue under contract until each model's end-of-life date, in December 2027, June 2028 or December 2028.
The 7280CR-48 is different. Its software date, its TAC date, its RMA date and its end of life all fall on November 22, 2026. After that day Arista has no commitment left on that model.
What the dates change, and what they do not
A switch does not stop forwarding traffic on its end-of-life date. The dates describe Arista's side of the relationship: new software fixes, support cases, replacement parts under an Arista contract and failure analysis. A 7280R that runs well today runs the same way on December 21.
What the dates change is planning. A network that mixes models should be planned around the member with the earliest date, the same way a stack is. Where a 7280SR-48C6 and a 7280CR-48 work as a pair, Arista support for the pair as a whole ends on the 7280CR-48's November date, even though the 7280SR-48C6 on its own keeps TAC support to 2028.
The replacements Arista names

| DCS-7280SE-64, -68, -72 | DCS-7280SR-48C6 |
| DCS-7280CR-48 | DCS-7280CR3-96 |
| DCS-7280SR-48C6 | DCS-7280SR3-40YC6 |
| DCS-7280TR-48C6 | DCS-7280TR3-40C6 |
| DCS-7280SR2K-48C6-M | DCS-7280SR3-40YC6 or DCS-7280SR3K-48YC8 |
| DCS-7280SR2A-48YC6 | DCS-7280SR3-48YC8 |
| DCS-7280CR2K-60 | DCS-7280CR3K-96 |
| DCS-7280CR2A-60 | DCS-7280CR3-96 |
Apart from the DCS-7280SR-48C6, every replacement in that table is a 7280R3 model. The Arista 7280R3 page holds the R3 listings.
What we list
The Arista 7280R page and the Arista 7280R2 page hold the listings in the two older generations. Part numbers listed today include:
Each unit is tested in-house before it ships, and anything not listed can be quoted. The airflow letter at the end of the part number matters when a unit replaces one already in a rack: an -F unit pulls air from the port side, an -R unit from the power supply side.
