How it differs from the BR-VDX6740-24-R

Extreme's VDX 6740 installation guide marks every power supply and fan assembly with a green arrow and an E or an orange arrow and an I. The green E marks an exhaust part: it pulls air in at the port side of the switch and pushes it out the non-port side, which the guide calls front-to-back or exhaust airflow, and it belongs on parts whose number ends in -F. The supply for this build is the XBR-250WPSAC-F, rated at 250 W of output on 100 to 240 VAC nominal input with a 3.5 A maximum input current.

The 24 in the part number is the port count of a base model. The guide says base models support 24 Ethernet ports and that a 10G Port Upgrade license adds ports in increments of 8, 16 and 24, for a total of 48. Base models carry no 40 GbE ports; a 40G Port Upgrade license adds two or four, and only 4x10 GbE QSFP+ optics go in them because FlexPort is not supported on the 40 GbE ports.
