The Supervisor 720-3B and 3BXL left sale on 30 January 2013, with Cisco support ended on 31 January 2018.

Cisco lists the 6800-series modules with DFC4 as compatible with Supervisor Engine 2T and 2TXL, such as the VS-S2T-10G-XL. They fit any slot in a Catalyst 6503-E, 6504-E, 6506-E, 6509-E or 6509-V-E. The WS-F6700-DFC3BXL is the opposite case: Cisco supports it only with the Supervisor Engine 720, on CEF720 line cards.

The Cisco WS-X6848-SFP-2T is a line card with 48 ports of 1GbE SFP. It is a module that installs into a host chassis and does not run on its own. This unit is refurbished (used): inspected, powered on and functionally tested by Townsend Networks technicians before listing. One unit per order.

HOW IT DIFFERS: WS-X6848-SFP-2T is the 6800 Series 48-port Gigabit Ethernet module for SFP optics. Cisco's data sheet pairs it with a DFC4, connects it to the switch fabric through dual full-duplex 20 Gbps channels (40 Gbps total), works it with Supervisor Engine 2T and lists its power at 334.44 W. Its sister WS-X6724-SFP is the 24-port SFP module of the earlier 6700 line, which Cisco says supports a single 20 Gbps fabric channel and sustains 26 Mpps per slot with a DFC3.
