WHAT BUYERS ASK
Which Juniper switches does the EX-4PST-RMK rack kit fit? Juniper's data sheets list it as an adjustable four-post rack-mount kit for the EX2200, EX3200, EX3400, EX4200, EX4300 and EX4650, and for the QFX5100, QFX5200 and QFX5120-48T, 48Y and 48YM. The hardware guides give mounting steps with it for the QFX5200-32C, the EX4650 and the EX2300. How much rack depth does a switch need when mounted with the EX-4PST-RMK? It depends on the switch. For the EX2300, Juniper's hardware guide says that mounting in a recessed position using the EX-4PST-RMK needs a distance of at least 26 inches (66.04 cm) between the front and rear posts, extendable up to 31.5 inches (80 cm), while a switch mounted flush with the front posts needs at least 24 inches (60.96 cm). Which way round do I mount a switch on the EX-4PST-RMK to match the airflow? Juniper's QFX5200 guide says to decide whether the Field Replaceable Unit end of the switch or the port end goes at the front of the rack, and to position the switch so that the AIR IN labels on its components are next to the cold aisle and the AIR OUT labels are next to the hot aisle. It also says to mount the lowest switch in the rack first and work upward, to reduce the risk of the rack toppling.
