Compatible with: Front-to-back (-F, green E) power supplies and fan units only. Extreme warns that fitting a mismatched power supply or fan assembly raises a console warning, MISMATCH in FAN Air Flow direction, so a -R supply or fan does not belong in this -F switch.
HOW IT DIFFERS: BR-VDX6740T-48-F is the front-to-back VDX 6740T. In Extreme's installation guide a part with a number ending in -F carries the green E symbol: it pulls air in at the port side and exhausts it out the non-port side, and the 6740T supplies and fans can be ordered either way. Its sister BR-VDX6740T-48-R is the same 10GBASE-T switch with -R parts and the orange I symbol for rear-to-front airflow. A failed supply or fan has to be swapped for one of the same type, so this chassis takes -F parts.
