What is the difference between the A9K-RSP440-TR and the A9K-RSP880-TR?

The RSP 880 is the later generation. Cisco's data sheets give the RSP440-TR 6 GB of ECC DRAM and 220 Gbps of fabric capacity per slot with one RSP, 440 Gbps with two; the RSP880-TR has 16 GB of ECC DRAM and Cisco rates its fabric at 880G non-redundant and 440G redundant. When Cisco ended sale of the RSP 440 it pointed customers to RSP 880 part numbers.

What do TR and SE mean on an ASR 9000 RSP?

TR is Cisco's packet transport version and SE its service edge version. The SE versions carry more memory for large service deployments: 12 GB on the RSP440-SE against 6 GB on the RSP440-TR, and 32 GB on the RSP880-SE against 16 GB on the RSP880-TR.

Are the RSP 440 and RSP 880 end of life?

Yes. The A9K-RSP440-TR reached end of sale on 30 August 2017 and its last date of support was 31 August 2022. The A9K-RSP880-TR reached end of sale on 1 August 2022 and its last date of support is 31 July 2027; Cisco named the A9K-RSP5-TR as its replacement.

Which ASR 9000 chassis take these route switch processors?

Cisco lists both the RSP 440 and the RSP 880 for the ASR 9904, ASR 9010 and ASR 9006 chassis. The ASR-9006-FAN is the fan tray for the ASR 9006 only.

What condition and warranty come with a Cisco ASR 9000 part from Townsend?

Each listing prints its own condition. Units sold as new, refurbished or used are bench tested before they are listed: every port and module slot is checked and the previous owner's configuration is erased. They are covered by the Townsend warranty from the date of delivery; if the hardware fails in normal use we repair it or replace it with a tested unit, and the length and terms are on our warranty page. Unused hardware can be returned within 30 days of delivery. Cisco software licences and support contracts are not part of our warranty.
