- WS-SUP720-3BXL is the Supervisor 720 with the PFC3BXL forwarding card and MSFC3, 1 GB DRAM on both the route and switch processors, and room for 1,000,000 IPv4 and 500,000 IPv6 routes; it draws 328 W. Its sister WS-SUP720-3B has the PFC3B, 512 MB DRAM per processor and 256,000 IPv4 and 128,000 IPv6 routes, at 282 W. Both have the same uplinks and 720 Gbps fabric.

- Is the Catalyst 6500 end of life?
- Yes. Cisco's notice for the Catalyst 6506-E, 6509-E, 6509-V-E, 6513-E, VS-S2T-10G and VS-S2T-10G-XL set end of sale on 30 October 2020 and the last date of support on 31 October 2025, so Cisco support for the chassis and the Supervisor 2T has ended. The Supervisor 720-3B and 3BXL left sale on 30 January 2013, with Cisco support ended on 31 January 2018.
- What is the difference between the WS-SUP720-3BXL and the VS-S2T-10G-XL?
- They are two supervisor generations. The WS-SUP720-3BXL carries the MSFC3 and PFC3BXL and has two Gigabit uplinks, one SFP and one that takes an SFP or a 10/100/1000 RJ-45 connection. The VS-S2T-10G-XL is the Supervisor Engine 2T with MSFC5 and PFC4XL, two 10GbE and three 1GbE uplinks, and it is the supervisor the 6800-series DFC4 modules need. Cisco named the VS-S2T-10G-XL as a replacement for the Sup720-3BXL.
- What condition and warranty come with a Cisco Catalyst 6500 part from Townsend?
- Each listing prints its own condition. Units sold as new, refurbished or used are bench tested before they are listed: every port and module slot is checked and the previous owner's configuration is erased. They are covered by the Townsend warranty from the date of delivery; if the hardware fails in normal use we repair it or replace it with a tested unit, and the length and terms are on our warranty page. Unused hardware can be returned within 30 days of delivery. Cisco software licences and support contracts are not part of our warranty.
