The Juniper EX4300-48T is a switch from the Juniper EX4300 family with 48 ports of 1GbE RJ45, 4 ports of 40GbE QSFP+, front-to-back airflow and AC power. It runs Junos OS. This unit is refurbished (used): inspected, powered on and functionally tested by Townsend Networks technicians before listing. - EX4300-48T is the AC-powered 48-port model: 48 10/100/1000BASE-T ports with a 350 W AC power supply, with QSFP+ DAC cables for Virtual Chassis ordered separately. Juniper's datasheet lists its DC sibling EX4300-48T-DC with the same 48 copper ports on a 550 W DC supply, so the two differ in power input and not in ports.

- What do AFI and AFO mean on an EX4300?
- Airflow direction. Juniper labels fans and power supplies AIR IN (AFI) for back-to-front airflow and AIR OUT (AFO) for front-to-back airflow. The EX4300-48T-AFI ships with AFI fan modules and power supply; the standard EX4300-48T ships AFO. Match the airflow to the hot and cold aisles of the rack it goes into.
- Can EX4300 switches be stacked, and with what?
- Up to 10 EX4300 switches form a Virtual Chassis. The built-in QSFP+ ports are set up as Virtual Chassis ports by default and can be reconfigured as network ports. An EX4300 can also be a line card member of a mixed Virtual Chassis with EX4600 switches, where the EX4600 takes the primary and backup roles.
- Which uplink modules fit the EX4300?
- The 24- and 48-port T and P models take the 4-port 10GbE SFP+ module EX-UM-4X4SFP. The EX4300-32F takes the 2-port 40GbE QSFP+ module EX-UM-2QSFP or the 8-port 10GbE SFP+ module EX-UM-8X8SFP. The EX4300-48MP takes the EX-UM-2QSFP-MR (two 40GbE or 100GbE ports) or the EX-UM-4SFPP-MR (four 1GbE or 10GbE ports). A switch listing does not include an uplink module unless it says so.
- What condition and warranty come with a Juniper EX4300 switch from Townsend?
- Each listing prints its own condition. Units sold as new, refurbished or used are bench tested before they are listed: every port and module slot is checked and the previous owner's configuration is erased. They are covered by the Townsend warranty from the date of delivery; if the hardware fails in normal use we repair it or replace it with a tested unit, and the length and terms are on our warranty page. Unused hardware can be returned within 30 days of delivery. Juniper software licences and support contracts are not part of our warranty.
How the EX4300-48T differs from the EX4300-48T-DC
Juniper's EX4300 datasheet orders the EX4300-48T as a 48-port 10/100/1000BASE-T switch with a 350 W AC power supply, and the EX4300-48T-DC as the same 48-port switch with a 550 W DC power supply, so the choice between them is the power feed of the rack. Juniper's EX4300 hardware guide is explicit that the EX4300-48T and the EX4300-48T-AFI do not support DC power, while the EX4300-48T-DC and the EX4300-48T-DC-AFI do. It lists the 350 W AC supply as the JPSU-350-AC-AFO-A, labelled AIR OUT (AFO) for front-to-back airflow, and the JPSU-350-AC-AFI-A, labelled AIR IN (AFI) for back-to-front. Its operating range is 100 to 120 VAC on a low line or 200 to 240 VAC on a high line, and two supplies fit, in slots PSU 0 and PSU 1.
The datasheet gives the 48-port copper models a packet switching capacity of 248 Gbps unidirectional or 496 Gbps bidirectional, and 369 Mpps of wire-speed Layer 2 and Layer 3 throughput. The base unit measures 17.36 x 1.72 x 16.38 in (44.1 x 4.37 x 41.6 cm) and weighs 13 lb (5.9 kg) with no power supply or fan module installed. QSFP+ DAC cables for Virtual Chassis are ordered separately.
