HOW IT DIFFERS: BR-VDX6940-24Q-AC-R is the 24-port, AC-powered configuration of the VDX 6940-36Q with -R airflow. Extreme's installation guide says that switch has 24 ports enabled in its base configuration and that a single 40 GbE Port Upgrade license raises them to 36. The -R parts are the port-side exhaust fans and power supplies, XBR-FAN-40-R and XBR-500WPSAC-01-R, and the airflow direction of the power supplies must match that of the fan tray. Its sister BR-VDX6940-24Q-AC-F has the same 24 base ports with the -F parts, which exhaust at the nonport side.
