The Juniper QFX5100-24Q-D-3AFI is a switch from the Juniper QFX5100 family with 24 ports of 40GbE QSFP+, back-to-front airflow and DC power. It is a Layer 3 managed platform that runs Junos OS. This unit is used: inspected, powered on and functionally tested by Townsend Networks technicians before listing. One switch per order, with a rack-mount kit and the power cable(s) to match.
- HOW IT DIFFERS
- QFX5100-24Q-D-3AFI is the 24-port QSFP+ model with 2 expansion slots, dual SFP/RJ-45 management ports, redundant DC power supplies and back-to-front airflow, as Juniper's ordering table words it. The 24Q chassis weighs 21.6 lb in the datasheet. Its sister QFX5100-48S-D-3AFI keeps the DC power, the management ports and the back-to-front airflow but swaps the 24 QSFP+ ports for 48 SFP+/SFP ports and 6 QSFP+ ports, at 21.8 lb.

Questions about the Juniper QFX5100 family
- Is the Juniper QFX5100 end of life?
- Yes. Juniper's QFX Series hardware milestones page gives two sets of dates for the models on this page. QFX5100-48S, 48T and 24Q models: end of life announced 30 April 2021, last order 1 July 2022, end of support 1 July 2027. QFX5100-96S models: announced 25 May 2022, last order 31 December 2022, end of support 31 December 2027.
- What is the difference between AFO and AFI on a QFX5100?
- Airflow direction. Air Out (AFO) draws air in at the port side and exhausts it past the power supplies and fans; Air In (AFI) runs the other way, from the power supply and fan side to the ports. Juniper notes that older switches called these front-to-back and back-to-front. Pick the direction that matches your hot and cold aisles; mixing directions in one chassis is not supported.
- Can QFX5100 switches be stacked or built into a fabric?
- Yes. Up to ten QFX5100 switches form a QFX Virtual Chassis managed as one device. A Virtual Chassis Fabric scales to 20 devices in a spine and leaf design, with up to four QFX5100 spines, and EX4300 switches can join as leaf devices.
- What condition and warranty come with a Juniper QFX5100 switch from Townsend?
- Each listing prints its own condition. Units sold as new, refurbished or used are bench tested before they are listed: every port and module slot is checked and the previous owner's configuration is erased. They are covered by the Townsend warranty from the date of delivery; if the hardware fails in normal use we repair it or replace it with a tested unit, and the length and terms are on our warranty page. Unused hardware can be returned within 30 days of delivery. Juniper software licences and support contracts are not part of our warranty.
